I OFFER YOU A STORY TO LIGHTEN YOUR HEART

Dear Beautiful Painters,

As you know I love waking up people’s wild side through the PFTS process. Inspiring people to awaken their artist’s soul is deeply nurturing to me. So … with the pandemic limiting gatherings, I feel sad not teaching in person.  I feel disheartened not to be bringing the PFTS process to your part of the world … especially at this time when people need to find their spiritual creative core more than ever. Yes, you can use my books and videos and join my zoom paint groups, but it is not the same. Yes, I am getting Pandemic relief payments for being self-employed, but this is not how I want to make money.

So what can I do to stay engaged with you dear people? I can offer you a story that may make you laugh. I can offer a video to Bring Back the Wild.

Believe it or not, I am probably one of the few civilized people you know who has thus far not owned a Smart Phone … and I have refused to text. I have engaged with tech to a degree, only for letting the world know about the magic of painting, but I would much rather be digging in the garden, hiking in nature, painting, dancing, being in a circle with you, or doing rituals. Technology drains me; I am a technophobe … and yet I panic if my laptop does not work. Living alone in semi-wilderness, tech is my lifeline to you. But if I own a smartphone I fear the steep learning curve and especially fear I will become dependent on it, glued to the screen and texting as I see so many people doing.

Sometimes I feel shame that I do not have a smartphone yet, but really I want to feel proud of how much I can do with tech.

When I grew up in NYC in the early 1940’s we did not have a telephone, TV had not been invented. I remember the “iceman” delivering ice to the “icebox” before we had a refrigerator, milk was delivered to our front door, and we hung the wash out to dry on the roof of the tenement house we lived in. Considering all this and my lack of tech ability, I am proud of myself for what I can do.

But it is the Wild, nature, the spiritual mysteries of life and creativity that are na tural to me, that I love and what I am here to teach, to inspire. Please enjoy viewing a video made about me and my work 10 years ago when I lived in California.

Love to all, Aviva
